Dr. Cynthia Brinson
Dr. Brinson graduated from Texas Tech Medical School, did her residency here in Austin and did a fellowship in academic and scientific development. She started doing research in 1991 and fell in love with bringing new drugs to the patients who needed them.
Dr. Brinson has been the President and Medical Director of Central Texas Clinical Research since its inception in 1999. She oversees all clinical and research related aspects of the business and is the Principal Investigator on most of the studies we conduct.
A sought-after speaker on the topic of HIV, Dr. Brinson frequently presents HIV research papers she has authored or co-authored at medical conferences. Dedicated to prevention, she is also the medical director for Austin’s PrEP Access Clinic, which is housed here at CTCR.
She is board certified in Family Practice and practices family medicine with her partners at Red River Family Practice. She is an awesome doctor, and her patients are crazy about her. We are very lucky to have her!
Dr. David Wright
Texas Academy of Family Physician’s Physician of the Year in 2002, Dr. Wright is board certified in family practice. Formerly the Director of Resident Education at Central Texas Medical Foundation, he is now on the faculty at Blackstock Family Health Center. Dr. Wright still sees patients and has been a clinical research investigator since 1990.
Dr. Gary Werntz
Former Medical Director of David Powell Clinic (provider of HIV-specific health services), Dr. Werntz is board certified in family practice. He was on the faculty at Blackstock Family Health Center and was an attending physician at the Family Practice Residency Program of the Central Texas Medical Foundation. He is in private practice at Red River Family Practice and has been a clinical research investigator since 2001.
